What we do
Home & Garden Champs works to solve the Housing Fragmentation Problem—the “Last Mile” between residents, property owners, service providers, and the work that needs to get done. We build local operating infrastructure for home services in Chittenden County by connecting the people, businesses, and resources that depend on one another, then creating service networks, contractor pipelines, property support programs, sourcing channels, and coordination systems that make home services easier to access and manage.
Important: Help End Amadou's Homelessness
Amadou is currently unhoused in Vermont, and Home & Garden Champs is working with his established support network to help him transition into stable housing and employment. We have secured temporary lodging, employment, and a promising housing option, and are raising funds to help cover the initial transition and basic needs while he gets established. Our goal is to raise $2,000 and help turn an immediate housing crisis into a sustainable path toward independence. Every contribution helps us get Amadou back on his feet — and every share helps bring more people into the effort.
Programs & Offers
Pay What You Can™
Pay What You Can is a 6-month pilot program that provides practical home and garden support for Chittenden County residents, including small household tasks, seasonal cleanup, and basic property work. Visits are generally limited to 2 hours, with customers providing the tools and materials needed for the job. After the visit, simply pay what you can—no questions asked. Card, cash, and check accepted. Service providers can also use this program to support their operations.
PWYC Community Fund
Everyone deserves access to affordable home assistance, and everyone deserves fair compensation for their work. Our Community Fund helps ensure Pay What You Can™ workers receive at least $20 per hour when patrons cannot afford the recommended contribution. Neighbors with greater financial means can contribute to the Fund, helping other patrons access the services they need. Fund distributions are verified by Home & Garden Champs, with plans for community oversight and transparency through Discord.
HomeShare+™
HomeShare+ helps homeowners make better use of extra space by building a household arrangement around their home, needs, and preferences. Champs assesses the household, helps identify compatible candidates, and supports an ongoing process for introductions, move-in planning, and maintaining a workable shared-home arrangement over time.
Property Care
Property Care gives Chittenden County residents ongoing support with keeping an eye on their home and staying ahead of maintenance needs. Champs documents visible conditions, tracks concerns, helps coordinate service when needed, and provides clear updates on what needs attention, what is in progress, and what has been addressed.
Rental Matching
Rental Matching helps renters connect with available housing opportunities and coordinate next steps, including showings and introductions. Qualifying renters may receive $100 after securing a rental, even if they ultimately find the property on their own. Property owners and agents have no payment obligation.
Service Provider Directory
The Service Provider Directory connects Chittenden County residents and property professionals with local contractors, handymen, cleaners, landscapers, painters, maintenance workers, suppliers, property managers, and other small businesses. Champs learns what providers do, where they work, and helps keep them visible through a local directory shared by email each month.
Round Robin Rotation
The Round Robin Rotation helps Chittenden County residents connect with local service providers without having to call around and start from scratch. Champs matches each request to the appropriate service category and routes it through participating contractors, handymen, cleaners, landscapers, painters, maintenance workers, and other local providers who may be able to help.
